God is pretty cool

I asked God to show me something new during Maundy Thursday service. I figured it would be the same passage about communion they read every year. It wasn't, but it was still a familiar passage. The reading was portions of John 13. In verse 8, Peter says to Jesus, "You shall never wash my feet." Jesus answers, "If I do not wash you, you have no share with me." Another way to say that is "if I do not clean you...". The deeper meaning being that we need to be cleaned - washed - by Jesus' blood to have a share with him - eternal life.

I've heard that verse many times but had never thought about it in any way other than face value. God taught me something new!
