The Difference Is Three Days

The difference between Christianity and every other religion that worships someone who actually lived, is three days.

Muslims worship Mohammed, Buddhists worship Buddha, Confucians  worship Confucius.

Okay, it's really sad that I have studied world religions three times and can't spell Mohammed, Buddha or Buddhist, or Confucius. Thank goodness for spell check! I didn't even know what to call followers of Confucius.

All those guys really lived and died, just like Jesus really lived and died. But three days after Jesus died, He was alive again. Those other guys were still dead three days later and even centuries later.

Three days. That's not a long time. But it's an eternity. Because three days is the reason Jesus is true and the others are false. Three days gives us forever.

I realize that there are a TON of reasons that Christianity is different from every other religion, but I wanted to focus on this one. The point is, other people have come claiming to be a "savior" or have the "true religion". But each man ultimately followed the way of every other person in the world - death. Only Jesus came back.

Three days isn't much. But for Christians - and the whole world - it's everything.

  1. Awesome post! I might suggest that the religions you name are all *based on* their founders -- none of the adherents would say that they "worship" those men (although one could perhaps say "revere") -- but the point still stands, and it's worded beautifully.
