Quote #1
Here is a really cool quote that one of my pen-pals sent me:
"Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house.
At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting
the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew
that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently
He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does
not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is
that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of -
throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up
towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a
decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live
in it Himself."
~ C.S. Lewis
I have to say, I totally feel like this sometimes. Things happen in my life, and I just say "Why God?" It just does not make sense. I have always heard the tapestry example; you know, God is weaving a tapestry of your life and while He sees a beautiful design appearing, all you see is the tangles knots of the back. Sometimes He allows you a glimpse of what He is doing, but you do not get to see the big picture until you get to heaven. I love that depiction, but this one is another great way to think about it; a totally new example. We have to just trust our God. He knows way better than we do :)
Ahh! C.S. Lewis! <3 :) I've heard this one before, but it continues to blow me away every time... The way God works is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. It was a new quote to me, but also a new way of thinking about and old idea.
