My Life In Books

Once again, the inspiration for this post comes from Liesl. At this point, if it's not a review of some kind, you can probably bet I saw it first on her blog and thought it was fun enough to do here. Thanks, Liesl, for bringing my blog back to life again :)

Find a book for each of your initials.

Storyteller by Edward Myers is a book I've known of forever, it seems. It holds almost mythical memories because I don't actually know the plot all that well but I just remember really liking it! I guess that means I should read it again. (It has been many years).

Mark of the Raven by Morgan L. Busse was AMAZING! The world-building and creativity floored me. It's a trilogy and I highly recommend.

You Have To Stop This by Pseudonymous Bosch is a childhood favorite. I am in the middle of reading the series again and, unfortunately, it's not as endearing as an adult. Part of that is knowledge about the author and things that I now see in the early books. Sometimes innocence is bliss. But they are fun books, for middle schoolers especially

Count your age along your bookshelf. What book is it? I have books EVERYWHERE in my room. So the answer to this question depends on which shelf and if you count from right to left or left to right. (Yes, I am aware I am overthinking this). I did four shelves, from left to right and got these books: Sierra Jensen Vol. 2, Hattie Big Sky, The Seahorse Legacy, and Own Your Everyday. Sierra Jensen is a series by Robin Jones Gunn. It is my third-favorite of Christy, Katie, and Sierra, but still very good. Hattie Big Sky is one of those books that I absolutely love and don't really know why because to be honest, it's quite sad. The Seahorse Legacy might be my favorite E'veria book. Own Your Everyday was an inspiring book that I'm probably due to re-read.

Pick a book set in your country or city.

Most of my favorite books are set in a fictional world but Full Disclosure is set in America, in the Midwest. The biggest city that they deal with regularly is Chicago (which I've never been to). Dee Henderson writes some of the deepest characters I've ever read. There is very little action in her books but the character development is like solving a puzzle, a little bit at a time, and I love it!!!

Pick a book that represents a destination you'd love to travel to.

No one said it had to be a real place :) Odyssey is probably #1 on my list of fictional places I'd love to go to if I could. Well, okay, Narnia is really #1 but Odyssey is a close second. They might be tied. And I am an old-Odyssey person. I don't like much after the new Whit and I started to lose interest after album 50. I think we stopped collecting at #59. But you didn't really need to know all that, did you?

Pick a book that's your favorite color.

Of course this series had to be included somehow, seeing as it contains one of my all-time favorite characters!!! It's so hard to talk about this series and said character without spoilers though. I just tell people they really need to read it, especially if you like sarcastic, genius main characters. Probably shouldn't have even told you that much.

What book did you have the fondest memories of?

I borrowed this exact copy from a family at church and somehow ended up getting to keep it. I don't remember that story but I do remember that my aunt and one of my favorite teachers also love this book and I was going to do a book club with two friends with this as the book we would discuss. The club never actually happened but I did have a mini "discussion" with one friend about what we thought the ending was really about. My brother and I have had similar "discussions".

Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

Ugh. This book. I read LOTR first (because we had to read the book before we could watch the movies) and then I figured I should read the prequel. Those of you who have read or seen this book knows it is not a long story. If you know me, you know I read fiction very quickly, as a general rule. This little book took me almost a month to read. It was SO. BORING. I don't know what it was but I could barely make myself read it. If I had tried to read it now and had that same result, I would probably give up halfway through. Not sure but I am less inclined to make myself finish books I don't want to read these days.

What book on your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you finish it?

This was a hard one to pick so I just picked two books that have been on my TBR shelf the longest. I don't know why I even put The Blue Castle on there anymore, but I still have a small desire to read it so it stays. I don't know why I haven't read The Princess Bride when my family loves the movie so much, but it, too, languishes away on my digital to-read Goodreads shelf.

  1. Oooh, a lot of great books! I enjoyed The Bronze Bow. I'll have to add some of the others to my TBR list. :D
