I cannot begin to describe how excited I am for this book!!! Ever since finishing Samara's Peril, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this book; the excitement growing as the release got closer!!! If you haven't discovered this amazing book series yet, what are you waiting for?!?! You need to read these books. To help get you started, Jaye is offering the first three books in the series on sale August 11th-14th!! find them on Amazon.

This is going to be a longish post, but it will be worth it. Trust me!

About the Book

Exiled after their defeat in Samara, the Resistance struggles to find allies in their quest to restore King Balen to his throne and put an end to the emperor’s tyranny. When the crete people refuse to lend their aid, Balen leads a group to Dorland to reason with them and win their support. However, enemies prove to be everywhere, and they find themselves in a fight to keep Dorland from becoming Daican’s latest conquest.

Back in Landale, the arrival of a new enemy forces Trask and Anne to tread more carefully than ever. Tensions are rising, and the enemy is determined to test Anne’s loyalty and root out the location of Trask and the Resistance once and for all.

Feeling trapped within the walls of Valcré, Prince Daniel must contend with an ever-eroding relationship with his father. As their clashes escalate, the situation becomes potentially life threatening when his loyalty is called into question. His sister seems bent on branding him a traitor and actively seeking to condemn him to the fate of those put to death in their father’s new arena. Daniel is certain his father would never execute his only son and heir, but with other forces at work, it might not be that simple.

One small misstep could prove fatal for all.

However, just before lunchtime, he appeared at the door with Talas. The two spent so much time together, the crete was almost like another brother to them.

“Ah, there he is.” Marcus wore a teasing grin on his face. “Showing up after all the work is done.”

    Kaden smirked. “Clever, right?”

The rest of the family gathered around, and Marcus thumped Kaden on the shoulder.

“Let’s have a look. I know you’re itching to show us.”

Kaden grinned and lifted his right arm, turning it over to reveal the underside of his wrist. Dark brown ink tattooed his skin in the shape of a dragon in flight. Beside him, Talas raised his right arm to display a matching tattoo.

“They look good,” Marcus said. “Do all the riders have them?”

Kaden nodded, his eyes alight with satisfaction. “All thirty-four of us, including our two newest recruits.”

Whatever happened from here on out, this tattoo bound the Landale dragon riders together for life. Kyrin thought it telling that Talas had joined himself to the group, being a crete.

Ronny stepped closer, admiring the tattoos. “I want to be a Landale rider someday.”

Kaden nudged him. “I’ll save a spot for you.”

Doesn't Kaden sound fun? I have always liked him, because he is sort of comic relief. So when I got the opportunity to interview a character for this release, I had no trouble picking Kaden! Let's hear what he had to say!

Tell us a little about yourself - what do you like people to know about you?

Well, I’d probably like people to know I don’t actually eat all the time. I think my author makes me sound like a glutton sometimes. I just enjoy a good meal. Besides that, there’s not too much to tell about myself. Life was pretty boring before the Resistance. You know, aside from the fights I got into.”

What do you enjoy doing?

I like hanging out with my friends. I really didn’t have friends growing up in Tarvin Hall besides Kyrin, so I take advantage of having friends now. I’m grateful for all of them.”

What is one unique/strange/interesting thing about you?

He thinks for a minute and then suddenly Talas comes up behind him with a friendly nudge to the shoulder. “He’s got a gift with dragons, something that I’ve only ever seen with cretes. He’s a natural.”
Kaden looks up at him “What are you doing here?”
Talas shrugs. “No one asked to interview me, so I thought I’d crash one of your interviews.”
Kaden laughs. “Well, to answer the question myself, besides having a pretty sharp memory and attention to details, I’m probably not all that interesting.”
Talas shakes his head. “He’s being modest. He really does have impressive talent when it comes to dragons.”

You are super close to your sister, Kyrin. Tell us about your relationship with her.

She might be older than me, but I’m bigger and she’s the only girl in the family so, I’ve always felt the responsibility to protect her. She was the only family I had once we were taken to Tarvin Hall. And, being born twins, we seem to have a special connection. We’re different from each other, but we think alike. We almost always know what each other is thinking.”

Besides Kyrin, who would you say is your best friend? Who else are you close to?

I’m pretty close to Jace. How could I not be when he and Kyrin are so close and making eyes at each other all the time? *he laughs* But I’d say my best friend is Talas. We hit it off from the start, and he’s like my brother. We share the same sense of humor and adventure.”
   Talas grins. “It’s true.”

What drew you to be in the Resistance?

Well, I was kind of thrown into it, but I would have made the choice anyway. Kyrin would tell you I’m obviously a bit of a rebel and have some authority issues, so those are some of the reasons that drew me to the Resistance. But the main reason is just so that I can help protect my friends and others who need protection form the emperor.”

Can you explain where your dream to fly came from? How did it feel to have that dream come true?

I didn’t know it growing up, but I seem to have gotten it from my father. He always wanted a dragon. But I think a lot of it came from being trapped in Tarvin Hall. Flying is so freeing. I dreamed of having a dragon so Kyrin and I could just fly out of there and go wherever we wanted. Of course, I wondered if I was dreaming when Trask told us we were all getting dragons. They are so rare in Arcacia, that I never actually expected I would one day have one.”

What's one thing you hope for the future?

That we win our fight. I’d just like for everyone to be able to have a normal and peaceful life. I’ve never really experienced that. Even at camp, we still live under threat of the emperor.”

How have your experiences shaped you into who you are today?

I’m probably better at controlling my temper and emotions. That wasn’t a strong suit of mine growing up. I was never much of a leader, but I’ve had to learn quickly as captain of my dragon riders. I think we’ve all become stronger and hopefully wiser from our experiences.”
Talas nods. “I can attest to that.”
