Time For Another Livy Book!!!! // Chestnut Academy #4 Cover Reveal

Livy announced earlier this year that she is hoping to publish THREE books this year (she won't tell us yet what they are), but apparently the fourth Chestnut Academy book was not one of the three, so it's like a bonus Livy book!!! Which is just the best :)

I'm very excited to be able to share the cover with you today, as well as a mini-interview with Livy! I was able to send her a few questions about this book and writing in general and now you get to read the answers! She's so fun to interview. Reading her responses always makes me smile!

Are you ready to see the cover of Chestnut Academy #4 - Arizona Love???

TA-DA!!!!!

Isn't it cute?!?!?! My only wish is that I could see the rapturous expression on sweet Millie's face, but I'll have to content myself with my imaginings of it.

You can pre-order your very own copy with this handy little link (https://shorturl.at/sDcCo) and if you haven't yet discovered this adorable series for upper elementary girls, you should definitely check it out! Any horse-crazy girl would love it!

Now, I promised you an interview, so let's go to that.

  1. How is writing middle grade fiction different from the other books you've written?
Middle grade is different because I've had to learn to be far less wordy! Haha! I love taking what would normally be a massive, novel sized story in my mind (I tend to write very long books, haha), and distill it down to hone in on what truly matters and get rid of all the extra stuff, haha. This has been a GREAT challenge for me as a writer, and I've absolutely adored every second of it! On the flip side, these books still hold the same messages as my novels for older girls, so they're very similar in that manner! Also, you can always tell when you're reading a Livy book, whether you're nine or ninety, they will be bursting with pixie dust and love for Jesus!

  2. What has been your favorite part of giving Millie her own adventures?
Honestly, my inner child has had such a blast! The first idea for Chestnut Academy came when I was the same age as Millie. I remember staying up late and excitedly writing in my journal as a ten-year-old, wanting to write stories about a girl and her friends at a riding school for girls in Kentucky. So getting to tell the stories that my ten-year-old self dreamed of, has been such a blast! Some of the characters, scenarios, and horses are pulled from that old notebook, so it's really sweet to see those things come to life.

  3. Is there research required for the Chestnut Academy books?
As I child, I was a HUGE horse fanatic. I was very much like Makayla (one of Millie's best friends at Chestnut Academy) who knew exactly how many teeth a mare had, how to look for signs of hoof rot, and the best strategy for winning a barrel racing competition...so I had to dust off some of that old knowledge that is buried deep down inside, haha! So yes, I need to do an occasional Google search to make sure that all of my horse terminology and fun facts are correct, because if I ever got anything wrong, my inner child would be HORRIFED and oh so disappointed.

  4. The M&Ms have necessary snacks for their meetings. Are those the snacks you eat while writing?
I wish my snack arsenal was as epic as the M&M's! Haha! I don't typically have such an assortment on hand, but if I'm going to choose just one, my go to snack is definitely salt and vinegar chips!

  5. What is one "behind the scenes" fun fact or story that you'd love people to know about this book or Chestnut Academy in general?
This probably isn't very unique or original, but Arizona Love is based off the horse I wish I had as a child, haha. I'm sure that's been done like a million times, but it's just fun to take ideas that I had as a young budding writer who didn't have the skills to properly weave together a story, and do those little dreams justice.

Wasn't that fun?! I loved coming up with these questions and then reading her answers. Don't forget about the pre-order and stay tuned because a lot more Livy books will be coming your way this year!
