Hold Her Close by Hannah Currie // Review
The final installment in the Crown Of Promise series is HERE!!! And it's FULL of surprises :)
About the Book
Firstborn of King Lior and heir to the throne of Raedonleith, Lady Rose has always known what was expected of her—marry a prince, bear a child, continue the royal line. None of that involved confirmation weeks before her wedding that she’s barren. Nor her betrothed deserting her at the news. Through years of pain, bleeding and loss, her faith has kept her strong but this last blow strikes deep into her spirit. Rose knew she was broken. Now the rest of Raedonleith will too.
More comfortable amid books than battles, Prince Nicholas of Belairisia is as surprised as anyone when he claims Lady Rose’s hand for himself upon first meeting. In front of every noble in Raedonleith. But neither does he regret it. Though it’s impulsive and out of character for the studious prince, there’s something in Rose’s fragile beauty that captivates Nicholas. She’s the treasure he’s searched his whole life to find. Armed with patience and hope, Nicholas determines to wait as long as it takes to prove his devotion.
But when an attempt on Rose’s life forces King Lior’s hand, the two are thrust into a marriage neither of them are prepared for, and a journey through enemy territory which may end the relationship before it’s barely begun.
My Review
Rose's prayers are so heartfelt and I think a lot of people will be able to relate to them, whether they struggle with an experience like Rose's or not. The Devil only has so many lies to use so I think a lot of people will relate to the underlying struggles, even if they don't relate to the cause.
I'm not sure which story cut deeper - Rose's or Lior's. It was interesting how both storylines revolve around love but in such different ways.
And I thought having Lior's story alongside Rose's was fascinating. In the first two books, I had viewed him as a God-like figure in the story. I mean, he's shown to be flawed but we are retelling parables so his part is God, right? Yet in this story we really see his humanness. The doubts and fears and heart for his family and country. His incredible love that never gives up but will give up everything. If that doesn't sound like God I don't know what does! It was inspiring and painful at the same time. That's kind of the theme of the whole book :)
I feel like these thoughts are kind of disjointed and that's because it's hard to really describe this book. Beauty and pain, joy and grief, how to live life holding them in tension. And the incredible strength it takes to live each day because everyone has something that wants to keep us from living our lives. It looks different for each person, but I think we all have one. So this book can encourage everyone.
I was on the Launch Team for this book and as such got to read a complimentary copy early. All opinions are my own and a favorable review was not required.

About the Author
Hannah Currie has loved royals—both real and fictional—for as long as she can remember and has always been fascinated by their lives. They started making their way into her writing somewhere around first grade and never stopped.
While she never dreamed of being a princess for real (way too many expectations and people watching), she certainly wouldn’t say no to the gorgeous gowns, endless wardrobes, chefs, and cleaners that come with the job. A crown or two wouldn’t go astray either. Or Belle’s library. Where she’d just sit and stare at the books with a giddy smile on her face for hours.
Hannah lives with her husband and three kids in Australia, where they proudly claim Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family as their own. She is very honored to be one of the launching authors for the new WhiteCrown Publishing line with her Crown of Promise series full of faith, romance, and—of course—royals.
