My Review

I am unashamedly biased when it comes to Livy's books and I am so excited that there is going to be a series for younger girls now!!!! That the series is set around Millie from The Tales of Tarsurella just makes it that much better!

Bias aside, I thought this was a really good story for young girls. Millie seemed like a character that girls will be able to relate to (heck, even I still want to be liked!) and, while all the girls sometimes seemed a little too grown-up and mature, each time I found myself thinking that, something would happen or be said that would bring it all back down to the proper age category.

Something I loved about this book and that I'm excited for in the whole series is that Millie & Co. are learning super valuable lessons but there is nothing preachy about it. I think that will make this more accessible to a wider audience.

Livy did a fantastic job letting this series be stand alone, as in, you don't have to read all the Tarsurella books before this BUT she also is somehow able to tie it in. It's like a side story to the Tarsurella series. And I have to say, if Millie can't be with Clark, Mr. O'Teal seems like a great substitute. I really liked him a lot.

My only complaint was that it was too short! :) I know it's for young readers so it's not supposed to be long but I can never have enough time with my Millie-girl!!! I'm so excited to see where this series goes!

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and a favorable review was not required.

BUT WAIT!!!

Livy and the crew at The Glory Writers have put together the coolest "extra" for this series. It's a website devoted to all things Chestnut Academy!!! Meet the characters (including the horses :), play games, get activities, and much more! I love the thought that was put into this and how they are bringing back the fun of things like Webkinz and Club Penguin but in a more wholesome way. Check it out!
