Regal Hearts - Season One // Book Review
By now, many of you know about my fangirl tendencies towards Livy's Tales of Tarsurella series. I haven't gotten around to reading Regal Hearts yet, but I finally got the chance to read Season One as part of the blog tour for the release of Season Two in paperback!!
Regal Hearts is unlike any book you've ever read. It's written in present tense, third person (it takes some getting used to) and each season is released one "episode" at a time each week for ten weeks. She's writing a TV show in a book! Who does that? Who comes up with that idea? Livy :)
I don't watch a lot of TV or dramas, but I get the impression that they can be kind of predictable. Not Regal Hearts. (Spoilers ahead). I was expecting twin sisters, based on the description and the prologue. We meet Lena first. Imagine my surprise when someone says her "siblings". As in, more than one other child. 'Okay', I think, 'there are some older or younger sisters than the twins'. I'm still thinking twins. There are so many characters and I'm trying to figure out who the other twin is. WAIT!! Livy was tricking us! It wasn't twins... it was QUADRUPLETS!!!!! Yes, there are four, sixteen-year-old girls who didn't know each other existed until now. Wow! (End spoilers)
The Characters
I liked some right off the bat, others I don't really care for, and some I think I'll warm up to in
time. Emma is very similar to me and I like her the best. Arden is my favorite male character because he's so funny! I always like the amusing characters. I think Eleanor is going to be someone I really like (though I don't know how much time she'll get) and Logan seems fine. I like Jack, thought I liked Peter but now I'm not so sure, and Jeremiah is neutral. Aurora and Elizabeth I couldn't really relate to but I think they'll grow on me.
Get Ready For Some Crossover!!!
I absolutely love it when authors do crossovers of characters and worlds between their series!!! Tarsurella has a role to play in Season Two!!! I can't wait to have my lovely character friends from Tarsurella come into the lives of the characters of Regal Hearts. This should be good!
The reason for this post is because Livy has just released Season Two in paperback!!! Woohoo! I'm excited to read more of the story. I have NO idea where this could go, which is pretty fun. Livy is giving away a signed copy of Season One and you can enter right here:
